Tacticool™, Blazefire Saber

Quick Short Summary

Being the Magitech Otaku that she is Karal Fire-Orchid cannot stop tinkering with things. While the Infinite Jade Chakram - Tacticool™-lized is an artifact so she could not easily make another, The Mexican - Tacticool™-lized is a simple firepiece which she can built blindfolder using only her tongue.

To that end the next prototype is finished and is is enroute with the Lookshy Aid to Chiaroscuro.

Type Speed Accuracy Damage Rate Defense Range Cost Minimums Attune Tags
Blade Attack 5 +2 +5L/2 3 +2 Melee 2 Str•, Dex••• 6 O
Range Attack 4 +3 7L 3 (12 Shots) - 100 2 Str•, Dex••• 6 B, P, See Below

This is a brand new weapon and not a upgrade of The Mexican - Tacticool™-lized. Using superior material at her workshop in Lookshy she managed to make the weapon lighter (lower str requirement, and no longer require 2 hands for range attack), more accurate (+2/+3), and with higher ammo capacity (12 instead of 6).

  • Instead of being a Half-assed sword and half-assed Gun, now the weapon is a transformative weapon that switch between the two forms - thus performing each function optimally.
    • The weapon is considered an Automaton, though one with no real sentience
    • The weapon can reflexively switch between gun and blade mode, even in between flurries. This makes for some spectacular combat scenes.
    • The Weapon has a single rate (3) but can be split between melee or range attack. It can only make maximum of 2 melee attacks. Thus you can do 3 shots and no melee attack, 1 melee attack 2 shots, or 2 melee attack and 1 shot, or 2 melee attacks and no shots, etc.
  • The Weapon fires a solid projectile and thus is akin to Crossbow. This allows it to be used for charms that would normally work with Crossbows. It remains a Alchemical Firepiece thus still qualifies as Flamepiece for Charms as well.
    • E.g. it would work with Essence Arrow or Extra Attack Charms that works on Crossbows.
  • The Weapon's is no longer a cylinder loaded weapon, instead it now uses an magazine that holds 12 shots.
    • The magazine can be manufactured with Craft(Fire) difficulty 3, or Craft(Magitech) difficulty 1.
    • The gun comes with 1 magazine in the weapon and 3 spare ones.
    • Switching out Magazine is a reflexive action - eliminating the Misc Reload Requirement
    • Should the character need to manually load the magazine it is actually slower than the cylinder with each Misc action loading 6 rounds into the magazine.
  • Technically the Weapon uses Steam to Shoot the bullets. The weapon however is far more rugged than the previous version and can use any relatively clean water. Even wine or blood if required. Though it will increase the maintenance time by 20% under such abuse.
  • The weapon use the Melee Ability for defense and melee attacks. It uses Archery for Range attacks.
  • The weapon can no longer use Firedust or Alchemical Fire Rounds.
    • It's normal ammo cost is soft metal - Resource 1 in most civilized lands. The ammo is specialized, you can't just use a hunk of Soft Metal, it has to be shaped into a cylinder that fits the chamber exactly.
    • Easily made with Craft(Fire) or Craft(Air), difficulty 1

The weapon comes with a Standard Scabbard and not a case

These weapons are NOT artifacts. They are not even Tested and Stable Magitech Weapons. They are jury rigs - one of a kind Magitech Experimental Prototypes. Thus they are finicky and fragile. All sorts of strange things, mostly bad, can happen if you botch with them. The GM and Players have far more liberty on these weapon's botches than they would others.

Both of these weapons require maintenance.

  • You guys are provided with maintenance manuals1 and the tools needed
  • Both items are Repair Rating 1
    • Skill Requirement: Lore 3
    • Resource needed: Resource 2
    • Time: 1 Hour
    • Repair Difficulty 3
  • Maintenance is assumed Automatically successful, so you guys do not need to worry about any rolls. You just need to satisfy the skill/resource/time requirement.
    • Rolls are required for Repairs however. This is especially true if the weapon is abused - E.g. taken damage from attacks, used wrong ammo, etc.
